Yesterday I only focused on this project. I finished all the flash animations, I put them all into c4d, then I exported them all one by one, put them into Premiere and then overlaid an old film effect on all of them. I had some glitches after I exported it from Premiere that I'm not happy about but overall I like the way it looks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLxfHmmMbpE
I want to go back and fix the glitches and fix the timing problems in the end of it because I didn't have enough time. And the it exported funny. But over all I'm pretty happy with how it looks at least, although I need to go back into it and fix some things. I didn't do a flythrough thing because when I did it in c4d it didn't work and you couldn't tell what was going on so I didn't include it into my final. I also didn't have time to put sound to it because I was running around filming for my final video project. Which I hated doing but it needed to be done.
But I'm happy with the overall look of it I just need to fix the timing in the end of it. And it doesn't really look like a multi-plane camera but if you look at Disney's Cinderella, the camera didn't make any difference there either so I consider this fairly successful.

Here's what the final product is essentially going to look like. I might have to do a couple different things with the closeups. I might just use the camera in c4d for that actually.
Anyways here's the plan:
Ask my boss for Saturday to be my last day.
Work all day Sunday on putting the files into c4d.
Thursday and Friday: finishing flash files and exporting them from After Effects
Sunday: make tiny fly through for credits
Pick or write some music on Sunday. (probably write I don't like my online choices)
Sunday add credits, music, and behind the scenes.
Then it will be done!!
I also have to work a little on finishing my word play because I keep saying that I'm going to but then I don't have enough time. I really hate finals right now. I can't believe that other college kids complain about one week of finals when we have like 3. Anyways that's the plan.

Rendering
April 30, 2014
I'm doing a test for the 3d camera thing and since you can't really tell that it's a multi-plane camera (just like you couldn't really tell with Disney's either) I'm going to do a making of at the end where it's a really quick perspective fly through in c4d so everyone can see how I made it using a multi-plane 3D camera. I really like it right now, but I might try and experiment with the shadows to see if that makes it more apparent that I'm using 3D software. Although I don't really think that's something everyone is always going for, which I wasn't. I was going for 2D using some 3D software.
But I understand that this is a 3D class so I'll do my best to at least show my process if nothing else. And I'll render out every scene this weekend and then put them in premiere. And I'll add the titles and the sound. This weekend is going to be really sleepless I can already tell.
I really like this project but I don't wee why it has to look 3D at all. Paperman used 3D software and 2D software, but to me it mostly looks 2D so I don't see why it's a problem. I wanted to try something out and I did. And it looks about the same as when Disney did it for 70 years.

Here's the multi-plane test. I'm going to try it in Premiere, with the first and last frame rendered too so that I can give it a little more time like you said. And then I'll go back to flash for the rest of class.
But I want to make sure I like how it looks with the damaged film overlay.

Worst Case Scenario
April 30, 2014
Well worst case scenario, if I had to turn this in at 11 I would pretty much just have a video file with all my test files in it and maybe some screen shots. But I don't think that's going to be a problem because worse case scenario there probably just won't be any sound. I'm really close to being done in flash and then all I have to do is bring it into c4d.

Scene 6
April 28, 2014
CAN I TALK ABOUT HOW PROUD I AM OF SCENE 6????? I am so proud of it, it looks beautiful and just like what I pictured it would. Out of all of it I am happiest with this scene. It looks so beautiful. LIKE SOMETIMES I HAVE TO REMIND MYSELF I KNOW HOW TO ANIMATE THINGS. AHHHHH
JUST LOOK AT IT THOUGH. THAT PONYTAIL. AHHHHH
Sorry I'm really happy with myself. Anyways, I have four scenes left to do, which isn't that bad. I'll try to get them done before Wednesday, but no promises since I have to rough an animation tonight and tomorrow night. BUT IT LOOKS SO PRETTY

Testing some stuff really quickly
April 28, 2014
So here I have my first scene re-rendering because I wanted it to be a bit wider.
I'm going to edit it a little bit in Premiere and then export it to make sure it's what I want. And then I'm going back to animating. I really like the way it looks right now, which is pretty much the same as the flash file because there's a white plane underneath them, but it will look like that pretty much but with trees.

What I did this weekend
April 28, 2014
So this weekend I literally didn't do anything because I worked 30 hours. I am so tired I literally just want to pass out for 12 hours. So now I'm a bit behind but here's the new plan:
Between Monday and Wednesday's classes I will finish the animation part of the project and the backgrounds. If I have time on Wednesday I will put the animations into c4d and make sure that the camera is lined up correctly. I will also make sure that the titles are all set to go.
Then on Thursday I will render since I have all day except my humanities class to work on things. It's only going to be about 45 seconds so I'm not that worried about it. I will test render it before then to make sure that everything is all right.
Right now I'm going to test the part I have in Premiere just to make sure it works the way I want it to and it will look the exact way I want it to before I put the whole thing in premiere. I also want to see if I can put an effect on it to make it look like an old movie. Then I'll get back to animating.

Update for the end of class
April 23, 2014
Okay so right now I have both wide shots done. So I just have to do two text shots, which I think I will just do in Photoshop and animate them turning on and off in C4D. I have four closeups to do and then three medium shots. It's really easy to do them all together because it's just moving stuff around for now in flash.
I would like to have everything rendered by the end of Wednesday so I can get all of the sounds done. Finishing the animations should only take a few hours and since I figured out the camera stuff it's not going to take very long to put it together in C4D. I'm pretty happy with how it looks right now but I'm not excited to think about sounds and stuff. Sounds are one of my least favorite parts.
I think I might write some music for this one too because it's super fun for me. I wrote some for the piece I did in 2D and it came out pretty well and didn't take too long so that might be part of what I do on next Wednesday. I am planning to have just rendering and touch ups on Monday, and maybe a little bit of sound work but not too much. Monday is mostly going to be putting things together.
I think that if I write some music I'll try to give it an old timey piano sound because I really like how that sounds in the Lotte Reiniger pieces, although I think for most of the early ones that was added much later because they lost most of the original stuff played live.

Test Animation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgeCIzLjshA&feature=youtu.be
Here is my test in c4D. Getting the camera to work took some time but I figured out how to work the target camera without using google which was very exciting. It looks pretty good, I haven't really used multiple layers yet. I have a plane with just a white color and then one with just the animation on it.
The next wide scene is pretty much just me taking the flash file that I have and moving it over a little bit so the whole dragon is in the frame. A lot of this is just moving stuff around and scaling stuff up for the first three scenes and then it starts to get more complicated. But that's alright because I'll have 3 out of 10 done and after all of them are done I need to make the tree file. But other than that it's been going pretty smoothly and consistently, although I wish I had time to work on it last weekend.
I'm really happy with how it looks right now though, especially the dragon spitting fire. That is my favorite part even though it was really simple to do.

Update for cutout animation
April 23, 2014
So over the weekend I didn't do anything because I worked all day Saturday and then went straight to Rhode Island for Easter, so there wasn't really any time for me to work on stuff. But luckily I'm still fairly ahead of schedule, so it's not really a big deal. So here's the plan for today:
Work on finishing the wide shot scene, exporting it, and then putting it into c4d as a test. Then finish the second wide shot.
Then I will do all of the close up shots, and then the four medium shots. They all shouldn't take too long because most of them have a few seconds of cycles when the action isn't really happening.
I'm going to try and work on it a lot this weekend, but it will be rendered by Monday night for sure, at least test rendered. I am still trying to nurse this cold but it won't go away.

For the Weekend
April 16, 2014
So I grouped all of the scenes that I can animate together. I am doing a lot of close up shots that can all go together. I have about 50 seconds mapped out which is good. There are going to be a couple of loops so that should be easy, just a lot of copying and pasting. I have a small animation right now, which is great. The dragon looks really great, I'm glad that I jointed it's jaw. So I'm going to animate all the close-up together, all of the medium shots together, and then all of the wide shots together so I just have to move some things around rather than than resize everything and I can stay on the same files pretty much just move them and then save them as something different. Then I will make sure that the tree animation is all set to go, which will be the longest but it will just be close ups and the two other shots so that they will blend in with what I animated, so it will just be more copying and pasting.
So this weekend I'm going to try and finish all of the animating and then test render it in c4d so that I can make sure it all works. And if I'm adventurous I can really render it to see how it looks. But probably not since I'm obligated to do family stuff with my girlfriend's family. But I still have all of Monday and most of Tuesday so it should be fine.

All of the puppets are in the file!!!
April 16, 2014
I'm really happy with the overall look of the cutouts, especially together. I think I have to flip the Princess around real quick, but other than that I am ready to start animating the first scene of my storyboard, which is pretty much just a loop of the knight waving her sword and the dragon opening and closing its mouth, maybe I'll give it some fire too. That could be fun. I think the Princess will just make some small movements. It's just going to be looped for a few seconds and then I have to do the second scene which is a close up shot. I will probably save it as a separate file when I do that. That way I can just switch back and forth between files that have all the puppets and files that only have one or two. One of the biggest challenges is going to remember to key frame things because I haven't really worked in flash since last year and I forget things about it all the time, plus there are so many different moving parts so I will have to remember to key all of them. I worked in flash a lot last night but I still don't like it very much or remember that much about it other than the basics, which is good since I had to do a small animation in it last night.
Anyways the main thing about this post is that I love doing this project, I could do it for hours and I want to get started working on it all weekend as soon as tomorrow hits. Well if I get called out of work which I think I will. If not I'll start obsessing on Friday because I have quite a few hours after my last class to work on just this and then after I get to Rhode Island on Saturday I can work on it some more. And when they all go to church on Sunday. And most of the day Monday, except when we pick out a gold fish.

Ahead of Schedule
April 16, 2014
So I wrote in my planning document that I would only work on backgrounds today but I finished trees pretty quickly so I'm going to start animating after I paste in all of the parts of the puppets which is much harder than I thought it was going to be. But I really like the look of it and I'm really excited to see how it works in the 3D program after I'm done animating. I think that after today's class, animating should only take me all weekend, especially since we have Monday off. And I am going to my girlfriends for easter but she nows how much animator homework there is so I think she will be ok with me bringing my stuff to work on.
I have two of the three puppet in the program with the trees in the background for reference. They will get their own separate movie file when I'm done because they are pretty much the only thing on the other layers. I will mostly be focusing on this project along with my experimental film because 2D is giving me very little homework for the next class today so that's exciting. I really love how this looks even from just the screen shot so I'm going to work really hard on this project so that I can have most of it done for Wednesday and I can test render and make sure that everything is alright. I think it shouldn't be more than a minute or two long which is great. I'm not sure how the rendering in scenes will go, but I will try to see how it will go. I always like making one big file for whatever reason, it doesn't make any actual sense but in my brain it makes so much more sense than making little files, and I think it's because then I can see it all together.
Also I love this so much I think this is what I'm going to do all summer when I'm not busy working and trying to build myself a new computer so that I can actually animate on lots of different programs without it crashing. (My computer just started doing that but it is almost 4 years old now, although not as old as these machines). The cutouts are super fun and I can't wait to animate it. But I really need a snack or something because I'm starving so I'll be right back.

Storyboard
April 14, 2014
I really hate storyboarding so this is alright for me hating to storyboard. I know what I want so I'm not worried about it. I have to make backgrounds on Wednesday and then I'll be all set to animate. I'm probably just going to make a bunch of trees and the dragons hoard pile.

Storyboarding
April 14, 2014
I am working on the storyboard for the project right now and I will have that done for the next class. I decided that the dragon is going to hoard these cute mirrors that women used in medieval times and the Princess helps the dragons collect them. I also want the Princess to punch the knight in the face. It's going to be great. I really hate story boarding but I'll do it anyways. By next class I will have my storyboard uploaded and I will begin working on trees and flowers for the background. I'm really excited about it and after I'm done with the backgrounds I will start animating. I am on schedule which is great, although I was hoping to be done the storyboard during class today, I will work on it in my next class while my project is rendering, which since it's in premiere could take awhile. I will also look into some typography that I like for this project, and I've decided to go with title screens like Lotte Reiniger's old work because I don't have enough time to plan for having my normal narrator that I usually get to do my animations. He is unfortunately busy in college preparing to be a voice actor. Last year was a bit easier because he was still in high school. Alas. But I think that it will help with the old timey feel of it that I'm going for, even though it's a flash animation.

Last puppet done
April 14, 2014
My last puppet is done!!
I brought in my dragon book into class to look at which was really helpful for bone structure, to pick where the joints were going to go. It needs a little cleaning up around some edges but other than that it's done. I have to make my storyboard now, which is my least favorite part I'm really on schedule which is a first for this class. This is also getting me reunited with flash so that will be great for my 2D animation project that's due Wednesday that I'm going to slave over tonight and tomorrow night. But I'm really happy with all of the flash files right now because they all look really good right now. I just need to figure out what I want the dragon to hoard that a lot of young ladies would have in those times.

Second puppet done
April 14, 2014
The second puppet is done and I still have an hour and a half left of class which is great. I am fairly on schedule since I just have to do the dragon and storyboard left for today.
So she looks a little bit like a serial killer, but to be fair knights were pretty much serial killers so I'm going to say that's fine. Her pony tail also have it's own separate layer so it can move when it comes out of the helmet near the end. I'm really excited to make the dragon puppet, I think I'm going to do for a European dragon, but with only a few joints because I want it to be kind of snake like.
Also, here are my feelings about snakes in animation form:

Final Project update
April 14, 2014
So I didn't do anything but think about the project over the weekend because I'm really sick and I needed a large amount of sleep to try and get better, although it didn't work because I had to work at 7 in the morning.
At the moment I have one puppet and the beginnings of the second one. After finishing the puppet that's in progress right now I will have one more to do and then I will storyboard the project (I always hate storyboarding so I procrastinate it). Essentially my idea is to make it like a basic fairytale but with a twist. You know, the normal dragon kidnaps princess deal. Except in the end it's a lesbian knight and the dragon actually just hoards weird things and isn't trying to hurt anyone, and the Princess and dragon are friends.
I've always been really influenced by fairytales but I don't really like the villain stereotype thing. I don't think that most people are completely evil so I don't really like most depictions of villains, especially in animation (unless it's a Miyazaki movie because he does a really good job at showing how people have good in them.)

Puppet tested
April 9, 2014
I did a basic movement with several of the parts to make sure that it would work alright and it does!! Very happy about it!! I need to make folders though when I make the bigger file with all the characters interacting so that it will be easier. You can just click on any of her limbs and transform them to where you want them to be and I think that's great.
It's really fun for me to do this because it's still drawing but it isn't constant drawing which is what I really want I think. I like to incorporate multiple mediums into my work usually.

This is my favorite piece that I've watched by Lotte Reiniger. She's a really amazing woman who made films with her husband and even continued while fleeing from nazi Germany. She also made a full length animated feature years before Disney although she is never credited.
She made the Adventures of Prince Achmed in 1926 and used some color technology in her animations before most people. She was really ahead of her time, but her work didn't get distributed much in the United States.
You can watch the whole movie online, and as far as cutouts goes she pretty much already had the entire technique down in the 1920's, not much has changed about it since then except now you can move them in computer programs. I think her work is really beautiful and that's why I want to make my own silhouetted animations. I also really like Kara Walker's show, it's really interesting and it was fun to write a paper about in art history.
First cutout done
April 9, 2014
So my first cutout is done. I made her legs underneath her skirt so that I can move them too and I'm really happy with her. Here are two screen shots, one without the skirt and one with.
I need to touch her up a little bit but she's pretty much all set to go. I'm going to do a test animation next I think just to make sure she moves the way I want her to. I think she will though because she's made just the way I envisioned her which is great. So there are only two more puppets to go, another person and a dragon and then I can get to the background scenery and such. I need to storyboard it out and then when all the pieces are done I'm going to put it into c4d to make it like a multi-plane camera. I'm really excited about this project and since the puppet only took like an hour and a half to make I'm pretty happy with it.

Almost done
April 9, 2014
This is my final render from Premiere with a title and sounds. I feel alright about the sounds, although sound editing is one of my least favorite parts. If I ever actually make my own studio and make money I will be hiring someone else for that, probably one of my music major friends. I really loath sound editing and that's what I have to do during my lunch break too. Luckily that animation is only about eight seconds long.
Anyways it's almost done so I can keep working on my cutout animation in about two minutes after I rename this file and do whatever it is you want me to with it. I'm still not very happy with some of the animation but the beginning looks great so I guess that's all I can ask for. Later this week I'm also going to go back and fix the word play assignment and then turn that in too. And hopefully at some point I'll go back and finish the fly through but I really dislike how it looks now.

Test Rendering in Premiere
April 9, 2014
So it looks kind of slow in Premiere (which doesn't surprise me at all since it's the devil when I'm working in Audio Video) so I'm doing a test export to make sure it's ok.
I made a small amount of progress on my final project by starting to make one of the cutouts for it.
I think I'm only going to do two human characters and a dragon. I really like the style of silhouette cutouts so I'm going to keep it like that. I'm going to make them fairly jointed. I need to make a storyboard but I really hate storyboards so I've just been working on this puppet instead.
The export from Premiere looks fine it's just slow within the program.

Final Project and Render Progress
April 7, 2014
Okay so for my render progress I'm about half way through my second render that will be the final one for now. It's going pretty quickly now it just had to get through the milk animating with all the reflections and such. But now it's going at about a frame every two seconds so it should be done within my lunch break.
For my final project I decided I want to do flash cutouts and make the 3D program like a multi-plane camera. So I think I'm going to do a short 1-2 minute animation which I will start making the puppets for immediately and then animate it all in flash and make backgrounds and different objects so that I can put them on different layers and make them look further apart in c4d.
This is a screenshot of my test so that I can get rid of all the white background stuff in order to keep it the way I want. I think I'm going to do some sort of fairy tale like story but with a twist so most likely it will be with lesbians because that's what I'm in the mood for lately is unsexualized lesbian love. And I kind of really want to make a cut out of a dragon and a knight. I think this project is going to be really fun for me and I can't wait. I think I only want a couple of characters and backgrounds, I don't want to got too elaborate but it should be really easy with flash since it's just drawing and jointing them and such. I know the basics so I'm very excited. I just don't know if the files animate within c4d because I can't get mine to for whatever reason so I'm going to go back and look inside the program to see if I'm doing anything wrong.
It does not appear that I am but I'm not sure. I'll ask more questions about that when I get closer to working inside c4d instead of flash. I need to work on and finish another classes animation tonight and tomorrow though so I'm not sure if I will work on this much especially since I'm ill but I'll certainly work on it from Thursday to Sunday because this project was the only thing I worked on all weekend. And after I feel really comfortable about where I am with this project I'll go back and finish the word play which I think should only take an hour since I played around a lot with the magnet tool to try and get the cheese to wrap. I'm glad that I have learned things that I can apply to previous projects, and now this new one.
If I really like this I will continue to use it for my Animating Projects class next semester because I like the stop motion and cut out feel but with all of the animation at the touch of a button. I like integrating the mediums a lot and I'm really excited to see how this turns out.
Also you're stuck with me again next semester. Because I think you're great and I want to learn about game creation.

Fixed some stuff
April 7, 2014
So I decided to go back and fix some stuff this morning and render it again. I would rather have something that I'm proud of than something I just threw together. I'm a bit happier with it and it should only take about an hour or two to render so that's fine with me. I can work on my storyboard for the next project.
I really like Lotte Reiniger's cut out animations so I think for my combination of traditional and 3D I would like to do some cut outs. I haven't done cutouts so I think that it would be fun to articulate a cut out and shoot it and then somehow combine it with 3D.

Rendering
April 6, 2014
So I'm rendering in full right now but there are some problems with the animation so I'm not completely happy with it. I want to go back and fix it because I've worked so hard on it but at the same time I spent like 4 hours trying to figure out how to animate with the camera. I'm just so tired but I want it to look great. Ugh...

Almost ready to render
I'm doing one last preview before I go ahead and render it out fully on my own computer. I animated the camera alright I think, but that's what I'm previewing it for. I'm in the lab right now because one of the textures wasn't working so I wanted to make sure it wasn't just my computer that was messing it up. But I had to fix it on this computer too so it's not a big deal.
After I make sure the camera angles are alright I'm going to put in a floor and some sort of lighting, probably multiple lights so that it will look like it has florescent lighting. I'm really proud of this, I spent so many hours on it and it's actually finished. And now I have to go fix the camera at home because I'm terrible at animating cameras.

Animation progress
April 2, 2014
Okay so about another hour or two tomorrow and I will be done the animation for this, and then maybe another hour and I will be done the camera movements so that I can finally render this thing out. I finally got the cloth to work which is great, I just need to figure out how to copy frames to make my life easier. I wish I wasn't so tired but I started coloring my animation for my other class last night so I stayed up until like 1. And I'm going to be in here all day. Hooray!! After this it's going to be a pretty easy day though I just have to sit around and do video editing and then we have a class all about sound for about six hours with Julie. So this is what I'm going to be working on tomorrow along with my Audio Video project and while this is rendering I will be coloring my other animation that I'm going to put sound to.

Cloth Frustration
April 2, 2014
I want to kill this wrapper. I finally got it to moderately work but I somehow messed it up so now I have to make a new one and this is such a pain, especially when you're starving. I need to go home and eat something. I'm going to take my break now and try again when I come back. This is literally the last thing I have to do before I'm pretty much finished and it's really frustrating.

wrapping sucks
March 31, 2014
So I'm going to try and figure out the shrink wrap thing later, it's really frustrating me. It doesn't want to do what I want it to. But I'm going to open a new file and muck around with it. I really want to get this done because I'm pretty happy with most of it. UGGGHHHH I just want this to work because the rest of it works. And I don't want to deal with the horror that is cameras. I really need some breakfast. And more coffee. But I really want to make this thing work, it doesn't look that complicated on the tutorial so I'm just hoping it's something I'm doing in this file.

Wrapper
March 31, 2014
I was trying to figure out how I would wrap each piece so I went to look at tutorials and I found an amazing one with a hershey kiss and I'm amazed by how simple it is. I was making it way more complicated than it needed to be and now I'm going to try it out in my project but I figured I'd share the link with you.
https://vimeo.com/64031909
I think it goes into an after effects tutorial too but I don't really need that right now so I'll wait. I know you want us to edit this final project in final cut but I don't know anything about final cut so I might just do it in after effects when you're not looking.

Test rendering
March 31, 2014
I'm doing a test render because it's going oddly quickly today, about the same speed as my computer which is great. I need a little break with my coffee so I'm watching it render for a little bit. I just have about half more of the second arm movements to animate and then I can just combine the two parts into one big file, choose camera movements and backgrounds and then render it. I'm not very happy about choosing camera movements because me trying to animate cameras has not gone so well thus far. But I will try and perfect it. I showed my friends this project (one was Megan Higgins who had to take a year off for financial reasons) and they said I was great at this which surprised me. I don't like watching very much 3D animation unless it's in video games like final fantasy that are totally breathtaking. But I really like working on it which surprises me too, and this is the only homework I worked on this weekend. The next two days I have to work on my 2D animation but I figure if I finish most of this today I can start a test render while I'm working on the animating part of that since it's traditional and then it will hopefully be done after I'm done shooting so I can color the whole thing in Photoshop (I'm being overly ambitious for this next project because I really like it and it looks really nice so far and timed out well. I really need something nice for my portfolio).
So while I'm waiting for the render to finish, which is more than half way done I'll ramble about Final Fantasy X. It was the game that really got me into video games after Pokemon and has made me spend about 200 hours on it, between it and it's sequel. And I think that it's amazing that it was so far ahead of it's time. I remember what other games looked like in 2002 and it looked nothing like this. It was so beautiful, especially in the cut scenes.

Here's an HD link to my favorite scene. I would love to work on a game like this after college. This class has really made me think about different career options that I would still enjoy. 2D has also made me think about becoming an independent animator and I'm really glad that I'm actually thinking about all of the options. I didn't really before, I was really set in my old lady ways. I'm really excited to take that class with you next semester because I'm actually pretty good at coding in HTML and CSS and I've been practicing since I took that class so that I can make my own site senior year without a template. I think learning Java won't be too hard for me and that excites me. This whole thing excites me.
I also just put the video of my test render. It took less than 10 minutes for 900 frames which is awesome!!!!!!! I hope it actually works in this terrible uploader though, I like youtube so much better. Alright, back to work after a long ramble.
(PS I remembered about Final Fantasy because they remastered the original and sequel for the Playstation 4, and it looks even more amazing after they touched it up a little, although to me it looks like it lost some of it's original character, even though they were trying to up the visual quality of the gameplay. But I want my brother to get a PS4 so I can play it obsessively. Not that he'll share but in like two years when they make a PS5 he'll give me it as a hand-me down.)

I'm almost done!
March 31, 2014
Okay so over the weekend I finished the second part of my factory and I only have one more part which is mostly copy and pasting the platform and another rigged arm. I also did a couple of test renders on my computer and what took an hour on this computer took five minutes on my computer. It was really great. The only problem I've run into is that I forget how to turn off the ease in ease out thing, but I think I just remembered so I'm going to go into the timeline and fix it. So I just have to animate a couple of things and then decide camera angles. And I need to decide what the background stuff will look like but right after that I can start rendering things, which I will do on my computer because it's so much faster. Everything's going pretty well which is exciting for me. Okay, I'm going to continue to work.

Everything's going pretty well which is exciting for me. Okay, I'm going to continue to work.

Today
March 27, 2014
So I worked on my animation today and I'm almost done with the conveyer belt which is nice. Then I have make the last part and animate the camera. I rendered on my computer and holy hell is it faster than it is at school. I'm going to work on it some more tomorrow along with my animation for 2D character but I'm going to give myself some me time tonight and practice animating on photoshop because I deserve a little me time before I make dinner. Anyways, it's looking pretty good. I might have to fix the conveyer belt again. It's going a weird direction.
But rendering is going to be a piece of cake on my computer. Rendering even with all of the textures took like five minutes instead of an hour for 300 frames so I think it's going to go pretty well.

Finishing modeling
March 26, 2014
So I have a few renders for this completed as tests so I can render no matter what. I have to make two more cuts with the conveyer belt thing and then I can create the last part of the factory, which should be relatively easy since I have an arm all built for me already. I just have to do the wrapping and the box and then it will be done except for the camera and the background stuff, which I will work on tomorrow, Friday and this weekend since I'm pretty much all caught up with my other classes. So I will complete this, which is pretty much just making the wrapping part of the machine and then I will be all set which is exciting. If I have enough time I'll go back into my word play and fix whatever is wrong with that. Melt is also a terrible tool just so you know. It doesn't do what I want at all.
So I'm almost done this project except for putting it all together and rendering it. But other than that I'm doing pretty well. Yay me!!!

March 26, 2014
I had so many problems trying to get my word play files to work that I decided to just try and render the first small part of my factory because I need to go back and start over on the whole thing I think. It's going fairly quickly which surprised me because it's going faster than when I have to export things from premiere which is awesome. So this is pretty much a test render.
I'm going to fix the arm in the second part of my project and make the cutting happen somehow, and then go back after it's done rendering, so probably near the end of class and fix the first part where the tube doesn't line up with the liquid but I don't know how rendering works so I don't want to mess it up because I would cry.
After the second part there should only be a little bit more for me to do modeling wise and then I have to figure out the camera because I'm terrible at animating the camera for whatever reason. I tried recently in my word play when I finally got it to open and it was not having any of it so I will be going back into that.

I hate computers
March 26, 2014
So I really hate computers. For a long time my computer kept saying "unrecognized file format" which makes no sense since they're c4d files. So I came back here and resaved them to my flashdrive but they wouldn't open on this computer because the code couldn't be found or something. So I tried to get it to render when I went back home and I had a terrible time with it so I just give up. I just gave up and I tried to go to sleep but I couldn't until 3 am for whatever reason so here I am, visibly dead.
I'm going to try to do a render while I work on other things. I have to fix the arm because it wasn't working right and I have to figure out how to separate things.

My computer is being an ass
March 25, 2014
My computer is saying unknown file format for my c4d files right now so I don't know if I'll be able to render anything tonight because I can't spend all night in the lab. I have other animation homework to work on. I'm going to try and open it again in a minute, maybe even restart my computer to see if that has anything to do with it. But I have to create a character and key frame it tonight. I would also like some sleep but I'm all caught up with audio video now. Which is really exciting! I'm on track with all my classes now which is awesome. So I'll try again and post again to let you know.

Cutting Objects
March 24, 2014
So my arm tool isn't showing up on my render preview so I don't know what I'm doing wrong with that...... And I can't figure out how to cut the cylinder in half which is driving me nuts. I've been trying to get the knife tool to work. I watched tutorials online and they used the knife tool and then the disconnect tool but it isn't working for me. I don't know why I have to do things that are so complicated. I just have to figure out how to make the cutting tool and the arm work. Then I have to figure out how to make the individual parts be wrapped once I figure out how to cut the stupid thing. Most of my stuff is modeled now I think, and then the rest of my planning document is rendering and texture work along with sound and title editing. Which is definitely my favorite part! (not). I think I'm going to use the arm that grabs things that you make in my project for the individual pieces. I'm making this really complicated but since the rest of my projects aren't really done I'm hoping when this one is it will make up for it. And I'm going to finish my wordplay so that should work out fine.
I'm almost caught up on all my other classes work so I just have to do a few things before I focus on this more.

Not that far behind actually....
March 24, 2014
So I have the first half of animating done already except the camera and I only have like half of my modeling done and most of it is going to be really simple for the next part so I'm not as worried as I was a little bit ago. I'm doing a test render right now that I'm waiting on. I just have to make a wheel of cheese which will take like two minutes, some sort of cutting tool which will be the hard part, a kind of wrapping machine which will work like the cutting machine, and the box at the end for it to go in which will be easy. And a conveyer belt somewhere in there for cutting to wrapping. That stuff is all going to take the most amount of time but most of the parts animating I'll do after I model them. Then I'll figure out the camera and such and can start a real render probably by this weekend so that I'll still be on time hopefully. I'm still waiting for my preview which is ok I guess.... I'll upload it when it's done. I'm going to create another file to start the second half of the animation.
So I animated the liquid, the churner, and the lights flashing. I couldn't get the churner to effect the liquid which kind of annoys me but I might go back and try and fix that when I get the chance, if I get the chance.

I am doomed
March 24, 2014
I am literally doomed. As soon as I'm almost caught up with other classes I am really far behind with this one because I forgot what the due date was for this project which means I'm doomed. It also means that a majority of this weekend is going to be dedicated to this project. Between tonight and tomorrow I will have to render my wordplay. My flythrough is no where near done so I'm not going to bother with that one right now. I will go back and try to fix it but I have so many animations that I'm supposed to do this week and I'm losing my mind. I am never taking three studio classes again. I was going to next semester but I think I'm going to take the third one off because I'm trying to kill myself.
I'm not working nearly as much now though, I'm only working Friday-Sunday now which is really nice but my body is pretty much dead so I'm still trying to catch up on sleep. I know that I'm complaining a lot but I don't know why I'm doing this to myself when I could be a plumber and make like $40 an hour.
Alright I need to work on this because I'm really behind.

Collider
So the collider worked for a minute but not in the way I wanted it to so when I went into the settings to try and make it different it just completely stopped working so I'm done for right now I can't handle trying to work on this specific part for another hour or two so I'm not going to until I work on some other stuff for awhile. I tried effectors and the collider and it just isn't working so I don't know what else to do. I'm going to look at a few other things but I'm so tired of looking at it at this point and I really need to eat breakfast.

Effectors
March 19, 2014
I have been trying to figure out effectors for the last hour or so and it is just not working. I can't make them work with the liquid I made so I'm not sure how I'm going to make this work. I have to step back and think about it for a little bit. On the brighter side I think I figured out how to make the plastic substance for the wrapping which is great so that will take very minimal work. I need to work on how to do the arm and such for the cutting tool and figure out how that's going to work next but I'm doing pretty well on time I think. I'm only a little bit behind because of the effector stuff but a few other things should take less time than I thought so it should be fine. I'm going to keep working on the the effector tomorrow I think but I might also start on the conveyer belt and the cutting tool just so those things are closer to done. I also need to work on a storyboard but I hate them a lot. I think maybe doing it digitally might make me want to do it since I don't have great digital skills and I need to work on that some more. I'm a little frustrated with the progress right now but it's only because I was really on schedule.

I did it!!!
March 19, 2014
So I figured out how to make it fit correctly in the cylinder. I don't remember exactly how I did it. I could do it again with some tinkering but I have a hard time explaining what I did... But anyways it looks really nice now. I also go the churner to rotate within the cylinder at the speed I want it to. I'm going to post the preview I made on here too. I now have to work on collision properties so I'm probably going to look at some stuff online before I try it out on my churner thing. So I'm pretty much on schedule because I figured it would take about four hours to figure all this out and it's taken about 3 so far which isn't that bad considering all of the muddling around I did. So next I have to create a metal box and a chute for the liquid to "go in", where the cheese will come out. I will probably put a light of some kind on the outside which shouldn't take anywhere near as long as this is which is great. I actually really like this so I don't mind doing it for hours and this weekend I have a lot of time because I am only working 7-12 on Saturday which is a first for me. Making the wheel of cheese I said would take about 20 minutes but it's really going to take like 2 seconds because it's just a rounded cylinder so that shouldn't be a problem. I think the cutting and wrapping tools are what's going to take the most amount of time because they are just going to be kind of complicated. The cutting tool is going to be a robot arm but I'm not sure what the wrapper is going to be yet, or how I'm going to make something look like thin plastic. I think I might be able to use some of the tools I learned with the liquid for that though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjdky4VT90U&feature=youtu.be
Here's the test render. I have to figure out how the effectors can make the liquid and the churner react so that might take the remainder of class or longer. But I will get that done and then continue onwards. I'm really upset with myself that I left my external hard drive at home though so I have to be careful with all of the room I use, although I have two flashdrives. Anyways, I'm going to take a small break and then come back.

Animating liquid
March 17, 2014
So I figured out how to animate liquid by watching a tutorial and it was actually really fun. That was pretty much the only difficult thing I was really concerned about but it's much easier than I thought it would be. I'm rendering a preview now so that I can upload it. It actually looks pretty good so I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep this and now make another one. I have to fix the churner inside the actual cylinder but that's really easy so I'm excited about that. I have to storyboard out the whole thing but I figured out all of the parts of the factory that I want. Here's the tutorial I used:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKqvhpoXyUg
It was really helpful and simple, although I had to stop a few times when the guy was talking too fast for me to keep up. And youtube is being a terrible website so I'm going to try and make a vimeo real quick because god forbid that youtube should be able to upload a mov file. And my file is apparently too small so I'm just going to give you the link from my google drive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4NiKe3jEJY&feature=youtu.be
Just kidding I got youtube to work finally.
So there is my liquid test, I really like it at the moment. I have to fix the arm inside the cylinder but other than that I have a good portion of my project done. I should really storyboard but I hate storyboarding so I'm going to put that off until tonight or tomorrow. But I have a decent test that I like.
Mine won't preview anymore which is kind of really annoying me. I also need to figure out how to contain the liquid inside the cylinder. But then I have to attach a tube and metal box and the conveyer belt will bring the cheese down to be cut and such. I think I figured out that I can use the knife tool to cut the wheel of cheese and I want the platform to rotate so the arm makes the same motion a few times. And then I'm going to have to figure out how to make really thin plastic material for the wrapping and how I want to do that exactly since each piece is wrapped separately.
Also I realized I left my external hard drive at home which sucks but I have flash drives and I think everything is saved onto computers so it doesn't really matter much to me. But it kind of sucks because it has such a nice file space and I can't figure out where I could have put it.
Anyways, that's what I did today. I sketched all of the steps in my sketchbook and worked on the liquid animation, which I will continue to work on today or tomorrow depending. I also have to do the word play animation but now that I know how to do liquid it will be a million times easier to make the Alive word melt down. But part of tomorrow is going to be me sleeping in so no promises.

This really sucks
March 17, 2014
So here's the deal. My home life sucks. It is literally awful and stressful and I hate being there so for my vacation I decided to work through most of it so I wouldn't have to deal with my mother and her boyfriend. But on the one day I decided to work on homework I accidentally got plaster on the carpet, which I cleaned up. But I got yelled at and flipped out at and long story short I pretty much have no where to live this summer. I might be able to live with my aunt and uncle but probably not. So I didn't do any homework because I was incredibly stressed out between working 32 hours last week and dealing with that shit storm.
So the most I did for this class was play the new pokemon game for like 20 hours in an attempt to calm myself down but I did think about how the game was modeled and how they got all of the interactive qualities with the modeling. Plus they added a really cool feature where you can customize your character which is super cool. I would be interested in working for a game company, but probably only pokemon. Because I'm a huge pokemon nerd.
Also I am never taking 3 studio classes all together ever again. I can't handle this with my crazy personal problems and my work schedule. But the good news is that I don't have to work until Friday so I have a bunch of time for me to work on stuff. I also probably have to look for an apartment though and I have to catch up with other classes too so no promises.

It looks so beautiful!!!
March 5, 2014 10:35am
It looks so beautiful now!!! And the bone texture I found makes it look even better. So tomorrow I'm going to do the animation between them and then I will post the render to this blog. It's easier for me to render at home because my computer is faster than this one. I might have to break the renders into chunks but that's fine. Here are a bunch of pictures of the bones!!
I'm really happy with it. So I'm going to try and animate the word alive melting.
Working on these projects during break is going to be hard for me because I still work during break to avoid my parents so I'll still be working just as much as normal, plus I need to catch up on some sleep. But I'm going to try to finish this animation tomorrow after my one class and then render it out. And then I will work more on the planning document. Before I leave class I'm going to do the group evaluation form and work on my planning document so that I don't have to think about it as much over break since I'm sure that Julie will give us an animation to do over the vacation and Amy already gave us a project due when we get back which I have turned into a stop motion animation project so that's going to take up a lot of time too. Anyways I'm really happy that the bones don't look terrible anymore but it's still useful to know the other information that I learned from trying it the other way.

I am so frustrated with this bone making thing. I might just give up soon and do it an easier way but I really want to figure it out somehow. I need a tool that is more clay like than just smearing the planes around because it makes it look too jagged. I tried it two different ways, the way you showed me in class but it looked like this.

It's too jagged where things are supposed to be connected so I decided to try a different way right next to it and it looks a little better but not much.
I used the weld tool and the brush tool on the smear and smooth settings but it made the spheres look funny so I don't really like it, plus the cylinder still has an edge which is what I don't want. I wish I could just mold and shape it like clay instead of playing with planes and points because it makes it come out too rigid and not organic looking. I think I'm going to take a break at 10 and then come back. I just really need to eat and regroup because I'm starving and cranky. I might even just go now so I can be back around 10. I'm also going to look at stuff online to see if there's a tool I like better than the one's I'm using now. I'm not sure what else I can do to make it more smooth but I'll look at it when I get back because I'm too hungry to function.

Factory Research
March 4, 2014
I really want to do some kind of creamery because I work in a dairy department and I cut and wrap a lot of cheese. And I went to the Cabot Cheese factory a million times because we had land in that town in Vermont. I think it would be really fun to have something turning in a giant container, and then have it turn into brie since it's my favorite to cut, and then have something slide it down, cut it, and then slide it down for wrapping. So that's my idea, and I now have a bunch of ideas for how it will look because I took that too=ur five hundred times, but I can't remember all of it so I'm going to make it my own.

I thought the presentation was way more helpful than I thought it was going to be. Because even though they don't do similar work to me, they still brought up a bunch of sculpture techniques and new tools that I looked into immediately. I looked into more 3D printers on ebay thanks to them and found some that are much less in price, which is really exciting.
I also looked into injection molding because they said it was a cheap way to make many copies, but it's not a great way to make different faces for puppets. It's still really great information to have, because I haven't taken many sculpture classes yet.
I also thought that the information on Kickstarter was really informative and helpful, and I'm working on starting one now for my studio that I want to rent this summer so I can make some short animations, but I want to buy better equipment. I also thought them talking about shared facilities because it can really bring costs down.
I thought they were really helpful overall and I think it's really helpful to see people who work for themselves, because I want that for myself someday.

Word Play and rendering
March 2, 2014
So I storyboarded for the project even though I already started but I just did a really basic three panel one since I'm doing something pretty basic except for the modeling. I'm going to model the word dead as different bones and it will be great. I was going to work on it more tonight but I forgot to save the file to my external hard drive and I had to do my Audio Video project that is due tomorrow so I'm going to work on it tomorrow. I think I'm going to put the word I model behind the word Alive but not until it's melting and dripping and stuff. I might even have it show through the puddle on the ground or something. I'm not 100% sure yet. Also I didn't go do the test render because I have nothing to render and I worked all weekend so.... I'll do it when I have something to render.
And I tried to upload a picture of my storyboard but it won't upload for whatever reason.
I'm really excited for those presenters to show up tomorrow. I really have so many questions about 3D printing and I'm really excited that I can integrate techniques I learn in this class to stop motion work. Alright I have more homework to do.

Plus Fabrication Question
February 26, 2014
I looked at their website and I want to ask them all about 3D printing and how the program correlates with the printer because a lot of stop motion companies now use 3D printing to make the thousands of faces for their characters and I want to know if it's a direct correlation between what's on the screen and what kind of planning is involved so that it prints correctly. I also want to know what kinds of materials they print in, and if they just use the print as a mold or if they use the print? And what kind of 3D printer do they use because I'm really interested in getting one for myself at some point, maybe next year with my tax refund, I'm not really sure. And do you have to have very specific dimensions when you're 3D printing so it will come out the perfect size?
I really want to transfer all of that knowledge over to puppets because they used 3D printing for ParaNorman and I feel like it's a really valuable tool that not many people know about, because I have no idea how it works or what I need to know about modeling, or if you have to use a specific program, or if you can hook it up to whatever program you want and this is so exciting I never thought I'd get to talk with people who actually work with 3D printers. Anyways, those are all my questions and I think writing them down will help me try to remember them all.

Word Play
February 26, 2014
So I figured out how to wrap my flesh texture around my first word which took a little digging on youtube but I figured it out. I didn't do a storyboard so I might do that but I might try to do it digitally since I never work that way and it would be great practice for me and would put me out of my comfort zone. Also have a screenshot of my texture for the first word. I think I like the font so far and I want to look into how I can melt into, kind of like rotting into dead. I actually kind of want to model my own word dead and make it into bones so the alive melts away and reveals dead underneath.

I like the gross flesh texture, although it was one of the least gross I could find. Don't google search flesh, it's really nasty. Anyways, I'll get to work on the storyboard and animating tomorrow after a short nap after my class, and I'm also going to get to work on my other class homework. But I'm going to try and make this class and audio video more of a priority because they've been taking a back seat to 2D character lately. But I'm going to try and get back on track.

The Oracle
February 26, 2014
So I just put the glass texture on the oracle and animated it. I'm waiting for a preview to render and it's rendering so I can see the test. I also put the zinc texture on the oracle as well. I wanted to see how it would work with light so I put some lighting and some stand in grass for right now so that I can see how the glass reacts with the oracle. Man the render time for this thing is huge. I didn't like how it animated so I went back and fixed the transparency animation because I didn't like it so I'm waiting for another render file just so I can see how it will be. Then I will save a copy with and without animation so that we can use one for the fly through and then we can animate from there instead of in my file, although I really like to preview things before I do them.
Also I can work on my word play assignment tomorrow night because I have work 7-12 tomorrow morning and my class is only until 2 so I should be able to work on this after a short nap because I will still be exhausted from my 13 hour day today in the same room.....
But I should be fine for tomorrow to work on this and some other class stuff. I'm really tired right now though.
Ok, so I rendered the whole thing, then got rid of the animation, then fixed up Brandon's model even though there are still some holes in it that I can't fix. I uploaded it for the basic fly through and hopefully it will work alright. I'm going to try not to be too busy for this class but I think I might be allowed to do a stop motion short for my audio video class so this weekend might be nuts. Because I am nuts and I will probably build a whole set and character and costumes. Man I am crazy. But I always jump at the chance to do stop motion.

I didn't know we were supposed to work on the word play and the oracle at the same time so I need to start on my word play assignment...... This semester is really stressful and I'm trying to keep on top of everything. I'm sorry I would have posted about my progress more if I had made any. Well I lightened up the glass for the oracle and I looked at wood and zinc textures but I didn't know what they were for so I didn't model anything texture wise. But the glass should be pretty much done, I sent it to Anna for final approval but I'll have to wait and see if she likes this one better.

Glass Animation
February 19, 2014
So I just have to keep fixing the blue for my homework I think and I might look at the zinc texture also the building because I just have a little bit of tweaking left to do. I have other homework to do but since this doesn't seem to be taking very long so I'll look at the zinc texture tomorrow and Friday along with the glass coloring.

Oracle Structure
February 11, 2014
So for the structure I would make a bunch of planes and then make it as transparent as she wants. I've felt pretty successful with planes so far and that way we could make them the right sizes if we want. That way you could also select each individual plane in order to color and texture them differently, as they appear to be slightly different colors in some of the pictures. The top of it might have to be constructed a different way but I think most of the panels would be best as planes.

Next Project
February 11, 2014
I'm glad you didn't give us much homework because I really don't have time for anything right now. I procrastinated and now I'm paying for it ughhhhhh....
Anyways, my two words that I want to do for my project are dead and alive. So I think it would be cool to have the alive pulsate and be like muscle colored and textured and then have it decay into dead. I don't know how I'm going to do that but I'll figure it out. Also I don't really have time to list materials and transitions or whatever since I have to stretch and get back to animating for my all nighter, plus I have to shoot some video too so Amy will get off my case about that class.
Anyways I'll post about the oracle on the next post, even though it's going to be really quick.

It's slowly getting better
I know I need to add more stuff but it's slowly getting there. I just get really frustrated with it really easily even though I know that I shouldn't. I'll work on it more this "weekend" (thursday and friday) I promise.
This Weekend
February 10, 2014
So other than upload my photos to the other blog I didn't do anything else for this class this weekend. I worked all weekend, 7-5 Saturday and 10-7 yesterday. I tried to do homework for other classes but I'm really exhausted. So I'm going to be doing lots of homework tonight and tomorrow night, as well as Thursday and Friday night since those are the nights when I have a lot of extra time and I'm not likely to be as tired as I am after working all day at a job I hate. (well mildly hate. I just dislike my new yogurt girl with a passion).
Also I applied for that job that was posted about by the school and online. It would be really helpful for me to be able to pay for this place so I'm hoping that they pick me, but if not that's fine too. It helped me beef up my resume. Anyways, sorry I didn't do anything. I really just need a day to catch up on sleep but I don't have any that I can soo...... I'll just have to make more coffee.

My Fly Through
February 3, 2014
So I put a sink in there but I can't remember how to make the bend happen for the faucet so I'm going to put more cabinets in tomorrow and the stove and on Wednesday I'm going to ask you about the bend because I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. But here's a picture of what I worked on for half an hour.
I finally figured out how to put the hole in the sink which was very exciting. I'm going to put doors on the cabinets and put some cabinets under the sink and work on the warm and cold nobs. Then I'll put the faucet on and then start adding the last wall and construct the entire outside. I'll probably do that all this weekend because my girlfriend is going home for the weekend and I do have to visit a farm in NH for my Audio Video project but the rest of the weekend is between this and 2D Character Animation. I know it sounds lame but I'm very happy with the little progress I'm making. I think I need to tilt the sink a little more but that's it for that.
I'm also pretty excited to work with the textures on the Oracle. I posted my pictures to the blog for the textures. I wish I hadn't been sick the other day so I could have learned some of the texture stuff but hopefully I'll catch up.

The Oracle
February 2, 2014
So I'm watching the trailer for the Oracle and I have no idea what we're doing so I'm going to need it explained to me when I get to class. I think I kind of get it but I don't get why we're modeling for it? I don't know why I don't get it for some reason but I'll figure it out. I need to work on more modeling tonight but after working I'm so tired. I was really sick and now I had to work all weekend and I'm very unmotivated. I have plenty of time to work on it tomorrow and tuesday but I don't have much time before bed tonight, plus I have to storyboard. Ugh.....
Sorry I'm complaining again. It happens frequently because you're the only teacher that has us do a blog and actually gets to hear about the other stress in our lives... Anyways if I work on it at all I'll post a picture and some info about what I did. I'm going to do my storyboard first though.

UHHHH
January 30,
I'm having some trouble with the bending/tapering things on my own computer and I'm not sure why. I think I might go to the lab tomorrow and try to work it out because I only need a few more things before I get back to the easy stuff but it's still really frustrating. Also since I was really sick last class I don't really understand what the oracle thing is so I don't really have any ideas for it. Meh. I guess I'll work on some other homework while I try and figure some stuff out for this class.

I think I'm doing something wrong?
January 28, 2014
So I tried to squash and stretch a box so I could make a sink because it's one of the last things I have to do..... But it wouldn't work. So I think that I need to maybe drag the cube into the squash and stretch?? I'm really not feeling it tonight I have to say I did all my other homework for other classes and I'm just not feeling it. I really want to work on it a lot Thursday and Friday and in class tomorrow if you'll let us. I added a sky because I worked so long trying to figure out what I was doing wrong and I just don't feel like shaping the thing. So I'll try again in class tomorrow.

and it didn't work. So yeah. I even tried to pick the easiest format ever. Oh well. I'll try again at home or whatever. I feel I have posted enough for today. Also I found both of my things so I feel I have accomplished what you wanted me to accomplish.
It says uploading video... your video will appear here when finished. And then it won't upload so I don't know if I'm just impatient or what. Man I really dislike technology.

Class #2
January 27, 2014
So I'm waiting for my one frame to render on day 2! I'm glad we're figuring out how to bend things and mold more shapes. I think I should be able to finish modeling before Wednesday so I can work on things like textures and the camera. It's no where near as hard as I thought it was going to be which makes me a lot happier, but I'm really anal about walls lining up so it might take me awhile before I start working on the outside because I'm really picky. I don't know why I just want it to look perfect but I have all afternoon today after my Audio Video class, and then all afternoon tomorrow after work and then humanities (plus I have to do laundry so it will be the perfect few hours to work on this some more since I'll be waiting with my laptop for it to be done). So far this is the only class I'm now kind of happy to work on stuff for (but I haven't been with Julie yet still so I'm not sure how I'll feel about that class). Man I ramble today. It's what happens when I work all weekend and then I'm really tired......
This is the preview I got since I only have one frame right now but the kitchen is coming along and I'm going to add some windows to that empty room next to it. I'm going to add the sink and some other things, probably an oven. I'm going to try and use melt on something for some blood but we'll see how that goes. And once I'm done with the inside I'm going to make the outside of the house, a walk way and a fence. So yay!! I'm going to do some detailing on the cabinets and some other stuff when I get home today and then start on the outdoor part of it. I'm going to have to make some time for my Audio Video homework and Humanities though so I'll probably just get the inside done today.

Yay!!!
January 26, 2014
So I learned a lot more from all the problems I've had the other day than I thought. But I have a lot of the room mapped out. I'm going to wait to learn a few things tomorrow before I add the sink but I put a cube where it's supposed to be and I want to figure out how to dent in some of the cabinets (you know with the molding stuff). So I feel much better about it now but I don't want to finish the outside until I finish the inside. It was much nicer to work at home where I didn't feel as stressed out. So I'm actually really excited to work on this project now.
I want to be the camera being like a small child skipping until they see the sink and other things. I might try to get a hand in there? I'm not sure. We'll see how class goes tomorrow. Sorry I was so cranky the other day. It was just really frustrating. So obviously my world isn't done but it's a lot more done than it was. So here's a picture:
I think it's ok so far and when I get to add more stuff I'll be a lot happier but even with only a few things added it looks a lot better and it didn't take me that long this time. (Also I like this a lot more than Flash. It somehow makes more sense to my computer challenged brain).
See you tomorrow!

I'm a little emotionally destroyed
January 26, 2014
So I'm pretty emotionally destroyed from watching another vegan documentary so I think that I'm going to procrastinate for awhile longer...... But I swear I'm going to work on it I just can't handle thinking about dying animals at the moment. So yeah. I'll probably start working on it at 10:30....

Cinema 4D installation
January 26, 2014
I just finished installing cinema 4D onto my laptop. So in about 30 minutes or so I'm going to go and get my external hard drive and work on my project until midnight and then I'm going to go to bed because health is important! Also after my Audio Video class tomorrow I have no class and no work so I will be working on it for quite a few hours to make up for when I got frustrated. It most likely won't be done tonight but I'm ok with that.

Really frustrated and upset
January 24, 2014
So I don't want to tell you but I'm going to anyway since this is pretty much what the blog is for. I'm getting really frustrated. I have no idea how I'm going to finish this whole model this weekend when I have to work all weekend and I know almost nothing about this program. I understand that you wanted to give us more homework because class got cancelled but I'm really frustrated. I don't know how to do anything and it takes me twice as long to line things up as I think it probably should and all the textures look like they came from the 70's and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I'm really stressed and this is the only class I feel like I'm behind in and this isn't due until Wednesday but I still feel really stressed and I feel so much pressure. I mean I can work on it Monday after classes are done in this room and the same goes for Tuesday but I'm so stressed by this project already.
Once again I'm sorry..... I just really need to let this out somehow. I don't usually talk about how hard it is for me to juggle school along with affording school since my parents don't help me at all and I pay for everything. I'm going to work for a little while longer and then come back either tomorrow or Monday after class when I see you.
Also I didn't do sketches because I hate drawing and feel really bad at it, which according to my History of Animation teacher isn't necessarily a bad thing since some people are great animators but aren't great at drawing, and vice versa. I really like modeling but it's super frustrating right now and I really want to learn more on Monday so that I can try and figure this out. I have a good idea where I want to go with it in my head but my sketches don't really reflect it since I'm terrible at sketching them unless they're people.
Also for my camera angle stuff I want to have the view point of a small child. I think it would be cool to have a view from below and a kind of bouncy view. I'm going to add a few more things and add a picture to this post and then go because I can't handle it today for some reason. Computers mostly just frustrate me. I'll come back tomorrow night.

Ok so I put the weird textures so I could see the different shapes better. So as of right now I have a counter, a floor, and a drawer. I need to try and get more done tomorrow but I'm pretty upset right now so I'm going to call it a day. I'm going to add a sink, stove, and fridge, along with a few windows and then I'm going to do the outside. I want to model the inside out I think. Alright Shelby out.
ahhhhhhhhh
January 24, 2014
I don't know how to put shapes on top of other shapes soooo I'm getting really frustrated. This program is really frustrating I wish that programs would just tell you how to do things without hiding them in tabs or some secret language only known by elves. I really want to do this though so I'm going to keep working on it. I'm glad it isn't due until the 29th because I need some serious in class help on this. But I'm going to try to get all the things that don't overlap before trying to overlap again because it doesn't get me anywhere and I'd rather have some stuff done rather than no stuff.

Thus far
January 24, 2014
Thus far I have been working on this for about 20 minutes and I only have a floor, mostly because I can't figure out how to rotate. I'm going to try to figure it out. Pretty much I'm going to be making a really simple house with only one floor and I'm just going to take the viewer into the kitchen. The other room isn't important to what the viewer discovers so I'm not going to bother with furniture. But I'm going to start constructing stuff and marking out where windows should be. I think it will be better once I rotate things. I'm going to be working on it until 6 tonight so I'll post pictures of my progress. I'm also going to be coming back after work tomorrow to work on it for awhile, really try to nail most of this down.

Sooooooo
January 20, 2014
So it looks like I'm going to be fixing the sketches that are terrible tomorrow and then going to work on the modeling after the animation lab is open after 6. I just had way too much stuff to do for audio video media and couldn't fit it in with me working all weekend, plus I couldn't get motivated. So I will be working on it tomorrow since I only have on humanities class after I work 7-12. So..... yeah. I will stop procrastinating I promise.
